Remembering Astroworld
Written by Moveforfree on March 9, 2011 – 12:33 pm -AstroWorld, opened it’s doors to over 50,000 customers on June 1st, 1968. During it’s 37 years in business it grew from 57 acres to 75 acres and also included a water park named WaterWorld. (No relation to the same named flick with Kevin Costner.) In 1975 AstroWorld became a part of the Six Flags family when Hofheinz family sold it to the cooperation.
AstroWorld is remembered very fondly by so many people all over Houston as well as the United States. Take a look at this newscast from before the park closed. A lot of memories…

Look Ma! We’re on TV!

TAA 2010
Written by Moveforfree on April 27, 2010 – 3:52 pm -Dreams don’t become goals until you write them down.” Wise words from Mr. 22 himself, NFL Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith. We were very lucky to hear him speak at the opening session for the TAA Education Conference and Expo last week.
This year’s TAA conference was held in good ol’ Houston at the Hilton of Americas and the George R. Brown Convention Center downtown.
Most of Thursday consisted getting ready for the Lone Star Expo that was held from 5- 7:30 PM. We got our nifty badges and headed over to our booth to set it up. We were super excited to have our brand new booth displays for this show. And boy were they easy to set up. Easy as 1- 2- 3 maybe? Why yes… yes it was.

We had a great time at both of the shows Thursday and Friday. And met some wonderful people… and a duck too!
Then it was time for the Ultimate Party: Revenge of the Nerds 80’s Prom Party! Yes you heard that right. The Spazmatics played us a three hour set. If you haven’t seen this guys ever then you must very soon. They are an 80’s cover band whose personas are all nerdy. But man can these put on a good show. Plus we had the great honor to be one of the sponsors for the evenings party.
Here I am in my everyday, I mean nerd gear.
We had a wonderful time in Houston! See ya’ll next year in Fort Worth for the 2011 Conference and Expo!!

Our Trip to Houston
Written by Moveforfree on March 19, 2010 – 9:30 am -We had a great time in Houston last week! Saw some beautiful new apartments and got to hang out with one of our fabulous locators; Mary. (She even gave us some of her fabulous peanut brittle to take home.)
And we’re off!
Almost there…
Our first stop was at the beautiful new CityCentre area, located off Beltway 8 and I-10. CityCentre is a gorgeous new area of town where you can work, live, eat, shop, and play all in one area.
Then we met up with one of our fabulous locators, Mary, to shoot some video of the two apartment properties that they have there.
First we went to the Domain Apartments.
What a gorgeous place this would be to call home. I think the pictures say way more than I could.
Then we were off to the Lofts at CityCentre.
This place was so tranquil and serene. It felt like I was stepping into a spa.
The lease at the Lofts also includes a membership to the Lifetime Fitness Center about a block away.
Also, while we were in Houston, we stopped by the downtown area and of course had to see the famous Waterwall in the Galleria. Can you believe Brad Paisley was shooting a music video there at the same time!!??
We had a fabulous time! Thank you Houston!

On the move this week… Houston!

“I’ve never been so happy using any website before. Seriously, I use the web for everything from pillows to cars, but THIS… this was FANTASTIC. I found a great apartment at a greatly discounted price (15% below market), and when it came time to move – BAM! Luis and Jesu (the movers) were there RIGHT on time and had all my stuff loaded in two shakes of a jackrabbits tail! I barely had enough time to say goodbye to my neighbors (though they gave me every second I wanted)! And even though I was moving almost an hour and a half away to the other side of town (Rayford/Sawdust and 45 to near Westheimer and 8), they kept in constant contact and let me know where they were, so that when I pulled up at my new complex they were RIGHT behind me. They unloaded me in about two minutes – putting EVERYTHING right where I wanted it. They even COMPLETELY refused my offer to help! They were exceptionally professional, and I really couldn’t have been happier with how those two fine gentleman handled my stuff – loading/unloading or even while driving. My stuff might has well been the Queen’s Jewels for how gently they handled it every step of the way. Really, way to go for those guys! But the best part – after they loaded me in, they brought me the bill – and it was CHEAPER than what I was told! I was told right off the bat that there would be an out-of-zone charge (and with the hour-and-a-half or so each way I understood!), but I couldn’t have paid a friend gas money for what this cost me. I will NEVER move apartments with anyone else ever again! Thanks so very much for everything, it was the single best moving experience of my life. I’ve always said moving was the single WORST thing in the world, but tonight changed my opinion about moving. SERIOUSLY! I hope to be a customer of your service until the very last place I ever rent. “
